Potted History : Formerly known as Calvary and Calvary Temple, they are one of the oldest and most successful clubs in the League. There are many long-standing connections from the seventies who include: Willis Mullin, Bradford Ricketts, Herbert Rose, Dave Lakin, Vernon and Athol Dore. Some of these people have much younger family members now playing for the team. Calvary won the League three times in the early eighties, but as with many teams, the results then petered out. The club were founder members of the Youth Alive Central League, which they did exceptionally well in, until it eventually folded and Calvary returned. League position improved year on year after their return in 1990/2000, I think. Calvary were promoted in their first season and eventually won the League in 2003 after a tight tussle with Halesowen Zion. Results have taken a dip since their win in 03 and the King's narrowly avoided relegation this year. Ed Walker June 2006

A poor season in 2006/7 by King's usual high standards saw them relegated after finishing on just thirteen points, seven points adrift at the bottom of the table. I would add however, that King's seemed to be undone by an inability to score goals rather than a complete inepitude. I'm sure they will bounce back. Ed Walker summer 2007.

2008 and King's appear to be back on the rails. They finished third in Division Two, the last of the promotion places, losing just four of their twenty-two league games, scoring a commendable eighty goals. A disappointing Cup campaign, although they had a tough draw in Group C with Clarendon, Amblecote, Chawn and City. King's also entered the National Cup and did well. The progress made in the said cup, combined with some weather cancellations meant that King's had many games to make up. Despite some slippage, King's came through and subject to ratification at the AGM, will be playing Division One football again next season. Ed Walker June 2008.
