The match was played in atrocious conditions

On 26 April 2004 Dynamo Kingswinford and Calvary contested the twenty-second WMCFL Cup final. It was a night of dreadful weather. Shortly after kick-off the heavens opened and the rain didn't stop all evening. At one point, there was an almighty clap of thunder and the floodlights partially failed. After consulting both teams, referee Steve Cartwright gave the go-ahead for play to resume in the gloom. Thankfully, full service was resume a few minutes later.

Having never won the cup, Calvary set about their task and opened the scoring through Tim Atkins. A snap shot beat the Calvary keeper at the near post from twelve yards. Dynamo were not long out of the game and drew level and then took the lead to go in at half time in front; both goals coming from Andy Poulton, one from the spot. As cup seemed to be edging towards Kingswinford for the second season running, Calvary equalised through one of their longest serving players, Tim Oruye and that's how the 90 minutes finished.

As is often the case, neither team made much of the period of extra time. Both teams closed down play and probably because of the occaision and the heavy pitch, tiredness took over. The game then went to the dreaded penalty shoot-out:

1-0 to Calvary
Last year's winner was scored by Andy Poulton from the spot, he made no mistake this year either, 1-1
2-1 to Calvary
In his 8th WMCFL Cup Final, the trusty left foot of Tim Fellows levels the score at 2-2.
After coming off the bench Marcus makes it three out of three for Calvary
3-3
After a brief chat with the keeper, Jamie Hunter puts Calvary back into the lead
DKFC keeper bravely takes their fourth penalty, but Ron saves it
Redeeming his error, he then keeps his team in it by smothering the Calvary spot kick
Dynamo square the event 4-4
Agonisingly, this one narrowly missed the eight yards
This one didn't, it's all over
